Even though we sometimes like to think that each of us can survive on our own, it is sobering to realize how much others bring meaning to our lives, both directly or indirectly.
We come into this world, not on our own, but through those who chose to have us here under different circumstances. We are powerless to fend for ourselves for many years as we mature under care. Even when grown, we rely on others playing their parts, directly or indirectly, without question, for us to function effectively.
The saying rings true that no person is an island. And if that, even an island is given meaning only by the environment in which it is.
