Who are we talking to?

While commuting, we are a lot, while at the same time, we are individuals. Each busy on his or her phone, none talking to his or her neighbor. Who are you talking to? And what are we missing when we forego the potential friend here for another a distance away?

As it is on a commute, so it is in many a social gathering. We are half-present, half gazing away at the phone. What if, instead, now that we have met our friends, we put the phone away, and be present in their company. Then, we know who we are talking to, and we do it in realtime, with real contact and all the human emotions that we cannot send in an emoji.
