A direct pass from the goalkeeper to the striker to score a goal in football, or soccer to some, is beautiful, and rare. So is a Hail Mary pass in (well) football. It takes incredible skill, courage and luck. Because of this, these plays are used selectively.
Often, however, the best thing to do is to take the next step only, pass to the open player, and move the chains, inch by inch. There is beauty in that process too, and it demands trust and showing up for each other.
Focus on the next step, and the next, with the goal in mind.
